When a maintainer merges a PR, they can choose to create a merge commit, squash and merge, or rebase and merge.

• If they used Squash and merge, the final commit might have been authored by the maintainer.
• If they did not properly attribute you (using your associated email or adding a Co-authored-by tag), GitHub will see the merged code as belonging to the maintainer, not you, and it won't count toward your achievement.

3. Unverified Commit Email

The email address you configured in your local Git environment (git config user.email) to make the commits must be added and verified in your GitHub account settings.
