I am seeing gold down 3.5% right now which means GDX shares will likely open down about at least 3% when the market opens. If that is correct, then in a few minutes, when the market opens, my DUST shares should be up about 14 ish %. A massive gain on this position since last week.

Selling all shares in a few minutes when this market opens. Gold is a few dollars away from hitting a support line. Expect a bounce tomorrow likely.

We are very close to the buy zone for both gold and silver.

I do not trade physical precious metals. I treat them like a buy and forget about them type of asset…. as someone who’s first investment was silver, and as someone who sold everything $20 away from the all time highs, I am incredibly happy… and am SHOCKED to see silver this low.

Hello everyone,

I’ll keep this section semi brief — I’m deep in prep for the Rick Rule Investment Conference in Boca Raton coming in the first week of July.

Rick Rule is one of the most successful and legendary commodity investors alive. His conference isn’t like others. Every year, he audits mining companies and handpicks what he believes are the best of the best. The goal: give investors a real education — not just on which companies are worth owning, but on what separates a legitimate commodity play from an outright scam.

In any hot sector boom, you get companies that rename themselves to include the buzzword of the moment — “AI” being the obvious recent example — and watch their stock run. That’s how you know a sector is in a bubble. Investors pile in on hype, not fundamentals. When the AI bubble bursts, I believe the next one will be commodities. The Fourth Turning theory, which I subscribe to, supports this — commodities tend to hold their value during fourth turnings while most other assets struggle.

Now is the time to start learning.

The companies attending the Rule Symposium represent the best of the best, or the best of the smallest — and that’s where smart investors can capture extraordinary returns.

Rick Rule himself puts it best:

I’ve wanted to attend this conference for years. The barrier is just a little high, for a relatively smaller investor: you need money to get there, money to stay on “Millionaire Row”, and money to invest in the companies you discover. Thanks to years of studying — and the support of Substack subscribers — I’ve crushed it in 2025 and in 2026. This is the year I attend in person.

Make no mistake, this isn’t a vacation. It’s four full days of company meetings, presentations, and learning in what I’d describe as a very bougie classroom setting. I expect to come away with something valuable for all of us.

Quick callout before we move on: in the last bi-weekly report I flagged BEP.UN as an immediate sell, calling a top. It dropped 6%, has recovered slightly but not to its highs — and I expect that trend to continue.

The combination of on-the-ground research, company analysis, and my technical analysis skills should act as jet fuel to the hot streak my portfolio is already on. I’ll be sharing exactly what I’m doing with my own money in Metals & Momentum.

Now, let’s go over what happened in the last two weeks.

TRADE & INVESTMENT RECAP

June 9th, 2026 - Buying Inverse Shares of Semi Conductors in the morning, seeing it hit resistance.

June 9th 2026 - Selling off Inverse shares of Semi Conductors for a huge gain in a just a few hours. This was an +11% move within a single trading day, but a +16% move since the previous week. Big win here.

June 10th, 2026 - Buying Inverse Shares of Semi Conductors here and increased number of shares a few times through out this two week period. I won’t post all the entries in my recap here, but it is a trade I am very heavy into now. It’s really only a matter of time until this plays out. The SOX ETF has been on an insane run without a single meaningful pullback and I have been charting this out seeing the decline is likely coming soon ish. Red flags after reg flags on that chart.

June 11th, 2026 - Selling off Soft Commodities for a loss here. -5.8% loss on WEAT, -8.6% loss on CORN.

June 11th, 2026 - Increasing Inverse Semi Conductor Shares, Plus adding CAG. CAG gave me a sell signal right before pulling back, so I sold it a few days later for a very small loss -0.6%. May reenter in Monday, it looks like the coast is clear. I want to confirm on the open Monday morning.

June 16th, 2026 - Went inverse silver here. Another great snag right before the federal reserve meeting, then watched the market plummet after the meeting was over. I took home a+7% gain after all said and done within 24 hours. Amazing buy.

June 18th, 2026 - Added a position right before going into the weekend. Looks like about a 12-16% opportunity here and potentially will be wrapped up next week. Another move that became much more likely to play out after hearing what the federal reserve is likely to do in 2026.

A few really nice wins here, a few losses too! Not perfect, that’s okay. I am realizing a positive week and a positive month thus far, but I am down on some positions I am holding as well. What I am really just waiting for SOX chart to roll over and then I will be be celebrating big time. We are on the edge. We will review the chart in the watchlist below.

I am constantly trying to get better, sometimes better only takes a minute. Here’s one minute at becoming a better investor or trader…

Confirmation signals keep you from getting faked out. In the chart below, you can see a break out (the green candle) breaking above a key level of resistance. This was then followed by a mega red candle which denies the break out. Most people would have bought that breakout, then immediately been very under water the next day.

THERE WAS A BREAK OUT… BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: NO CONFIRMATION WAS GIVEN.

On the next chart below, you have a break out, followed by a close above the previous candle and above the wick on that previous candle as well. That is confirmation and what do we see?

A break out, and a continued move upwards. There was a sell signal in there as well which told you you were about to break down shortly after the break out, but we will save that for another day.

THE KEY TAKEAWAY:

No confirmation? = no action.

See the break out and take a mental note — nothing else. Wait for confirmation, because big money will look to shake you out of your position if you are inverse, or make you think there is a break out, get you buying, then turn you into a bag holder. Sure, this could still dump out even after confirmation, but it’s far less likely. When a key level is identified by you… It’s definitely identified by big money. They will look to rattle you.

This has saved me quite a bit of money this past two weeks. It has also made me a lot of money the past many years because when you get the break out, then confirmation, I have bought the confirmation and the stock continues to run higher.

The key is the next candle needs to be higher than the previous one. The next candle needs to close higher than the wick of the last candle as well.

I get it this is pretty advanced stuff…

WEEKLY WATCHLIST

10 YEAR BOND:

Arguably the most important thing to look at majority of the time is what are interest rates doing on the 10 year US treasury — even for Canadians. Our interest rates here in Canada has slightly come down lower then the 10 year US treasury because we are now officially in a recession. High inflation = higher rates. The US is struggling to kick inflation lower. If USA raises dramatically, CAD will follow.

So here is what is likely going to happen:

This chart is pointing towards higher rates, and it is possible for Canada to follow along because affordability in Canada remains high — despite us being in a recession at the same time. This is like getting hit on the head and the rear end at the same time.

Make things more affordable — and you make the recession worse.

Canadas home market has come to a standstill and it’s all to do with interest rates. Despite very few people buying homes, Canada is still holding the position of the most expensive housing market as a whole, when compared to every other G7 nation (France, Gemany, Italy, Japan, UK and the USA).

When rates are moving higher, stock prices generally decline, but only after housing falls first. Housing in CAD has fallen off a cliff and if people are losing their jobs, they stop investing in the sock market. There is a breaking point in stocks and credit markets, and after this weeks Federal Reserve meeting in the USA, they are telling us (not in these words), they are willing to find that point.

Rates need to be higher to bring inflation down.
Inflation (in the USA) remains high because everyone is out spending because they feel rich because their stocks are continuously going higher.

This chart has been pointing towards 4.8% for awhile, I was saying this back in April and it has now been confirmed that the Fed will raise to about 5% in 2026. My target for awhile now has been 4.8%.

This is partly why it’s important to be a swing trader these days, not a buy and hold investor. At any moment, the stock market could roll over, Donald Trump will put out a post on Truth Social and we can be back at all time highs in a week — or continue into a huge decline because something has broken — permanently.

All of this has to do with interest rates. The Fed has said they will bring price stability back… They may not care about what that means for the stock market.

GOLD CHART:

If something breaks, gold will fall. Then the downtrend will end and gold will rise dramatically. 6K USD is likely coming in 2027. That will be something close to 9K CAD depending on exchange rates. When I say I have a 22k price target on gold, I am referring to gold in USD.

Gold reacting negatively to the announcement of potential coming interest rate hikes. Still not found a bottom in my eyes but I think we are getting close. Best to play the inverse here and pick up cash trading inverse gold and silver. This is what I am currently doing with reasonable success. I wont be perfect, but I aim to be right more than I am wrong.

High rates is not great for gold, unless rates are high due to fear of collapsing currency. Right now, the currency is not collapsing — it’s strengthening. The world is in search for dollars.

When we break out of this channel on gold, I will not be buying physical gold, but rather a handful of key gold mining stocks — some of which I plan to speak to at the Rule Symposium.

S&P500 CHART:

I monitor the S&P to see how the tide is moving. If we are down on Monday, the tide will be moving outward and it’s best to take shelter. Waiting to see what Monday brings.

The big thing is that Donald Trump continues to watch the S&P500 and announce fake news when the market is declining. He did this, this week after the market began a hard decline on Wednesday.

Any time the market was down over the last three months, (39 times) there would suddenly be a peace deal with Iran that was about to be signed. The stock market has been reacting positively off of those social media posts. This will not work if interest rates begin to rise. Unless he plans to dish out wads of cash to every day people… Wouldn’t put it past him. Then would be our bottom in gold.

Manipulation or not, there’s still ways we can minimize risk, and continue to make money. I will continue to stay both long and inverse certain investments.

One I am very inverse right now…

SOX CHART:

Relative Strength is telling me that this break up on Thursday will not hold. Trump announced a deal with Intel Thursday, the SOX index rose 6%, then when the market was closed Friday morning, he walked it back. SOX should pull back Monday. No confirmation on this break out so I remain inverse.

If we are down Monday, this would put in a double top. Double tops with a failed break out = lower lows coming. If Donald Trump continues to juice the market, the fall will be greater then I expected. Interest rate hikes are our friend with this position.

Nothing ruins a meteoric rise like spiking interest rates. What I didn’t expect when entering into this trade is for Trump to also identify that this ETF has become the market, and begin manipulating it to the upside. Keeping an eye on this one.

The market manipulation is not only apparent, but extreme! It’s actually shocking to see a president openly trading stocks before announcements. You can see it in the candles right before an announcement is being made. Then, when the market is declining, some good news comes out of the mouth of Donald Trump — without any consideration on whether it is true or not. The intent is to keep stocks from falling. The deal with Intel, should have been announced by Intel, but it did not. It came from Donald Trump — only because the market was declining.

The S&P500 will decline at some point here, it’s been vertical lately and with it, down will come the insanely valued SOX index, SpaceX, and nearly everything else. Eventually, Trump will run out of good news to share, the market will pay more attention to interest rates, not the social media of the president and when that happens a decline will commence.

Sometimes even the wrong move, is the right move.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE

My portfolio has shifted dramatically because I am currently down on SSG. My stock portfolio is heavily skewed towards inverse shares of SOX and is taking a hit because SOX has moved up 10% this week. Not concerned at all. I have cash to add here if needed. Here is what my portfolio looks like:

44% in Collectables.

Grown only because SSG has gone down a fair amount here. I was already a little overweight there but now this looks a little mad since SSG has fallen by 20% in value.

14% in cash.

21% in Physical Gold.

I was closer to 18% prior to the fall in SSG. 15-20% is my goal and I think that is healthy.

22% of my total portfolio is in stocks.

WHICH STOCKS?

SSG - 27% of total portfolio value.
DUST - 4% of total portfolio value.
MOO - 8% of total portfolio value. Check this stock out in the Stop Light Stock Section. We are very close to a total retrace and bounce.
XLP - 9% of total portfolio value.

Just a 10% decline in SOX will bring this back to looking a little more normal, but I have seen my portfolio dip into the negative territory. Again, just a 10% drop in SOX will return 20% back into my portfolio. The chart is telling me a 26% decline is coming. I am just not sure when. If we are down on Monday, it a sign that tells us it’s coming sooner rather than later.

That would be about a +45% return on SSG for me.

Nothing goes up forever. We are set up for a coming decline, if not at least a rotation of capital as people adjust their portfolio for coming rate hikes. Money will rotate. I will de-risk as we move lower on SOX.

STOP LIGHT STOCKS

Longer term watchlist. Using trend following/position trading techniques, this is how I am reading the chart of these tickers below. For new members, these are not all stocks that I own, but based on the chart and thinking a little longer term, then this is what I would be doing with these tickers.

GOLD & GOLD STOCKS

Silver is getting close to a potential bottom. $54USD is very strong support. I could understand why an investor might begin accumulating here knowing they aren’t catching the bottom, but no where near the top either. I am aiming for the best possible returns. It would be wise to see what collapses after the next rate hikes that come near the end of the year. Gold and silver will not hold up if inflation is coming down, even ever so slightly, and rates are going higher. So far, gold, silver and the miners remain in a downtrend.

I still think physical gold will be one of the most important assets one could own over the next 5-10 years. Long term, I am very excited. This year, maybe not so much. But things can change very quickly, this is why I don’t trade physical metals.

Throughout history if you were a day too late, you lost a significant portion of your savings thanks to the gold price changing over night. It’s best to own it and not need it, then to need it and not own it. Don’t let your allocation be 0%. Even if you are not catching THE bottom. That’s how I treat it. When I feel like my portfolio needs it, I will buy it. No matter the price.

NON-GOLD STOCKS

BBUC

MOO

Watching out for sideways chop here on MOO. Create a sideways channel and I will begin to buy more shares. This stock is beaten down and paying a good dividend. The market has lost interest but a break out of the bull flag highlighted in red would breed life back into MOO. We are very close to a likely bottom on this chart. It’s why I have not let this one go yet.

$75.91 is the line in the sand.

SRUUF

Good accumulation zone, but if we break 18.57, that’s not a good sign and would be the signal to get the heck out… With confirmation of course.

URNM

If SRUUF recovers then URNM has some catching up to do. Potential opportunity… for the high risk investor/trader. If the S&P500 carries on higher, maybe SRUUF continues to chug along higher. I think big investors are de-risking so this is not a play I would take on myself. We are seeing capital rotate from AI stocks into XLP, and then back to AI… We are in a high risk environment. But I am just highlighting this as an opportunity for those with high cash positions.

NTR

Watch for the lower range here of the buy zone to be hit and then expect a big bounce. I don’t think Iran will stay open for long and NTR has sold off dramatically since this “peace” deal was signed. It would be a main beneficiary of the Strait of Hormuz being closed once again. We have 6 months of talks to go… One attack from Isreal and NTR will move. Watching this one closely.

EWZ

Breakdown in motion with confirmation. Stepped aside on EWZ and will re-enter if we recover above these key trend lines in white. My guts feeling is this is a fake out. But I will not move back in until we break above the key trend lines with confirmation.

HEFT

Created a tradable channel. I will look to buy the lows and sell the highs. There’s enough here to trade between if bored sitting on cash. How many times can I take a 6% return from HEFT… This could be a fun game to play. Watch for $25.61 and confirmation.

OTHERS

Will be removing soft commodities next week. WEAT has technically not entered into a downtrend but I sold my position recently so we will revisit this later on. I keep thinking to myself what would I want to buy, if the Iran war picked up again…

In that case, I would want to buy all of these positions in this small list above. Adding XEG and will keep it to a swing trade until we see what happens near the end of the year with rates/Iran.

XEG

I would swing trade this once we tap the buy zone highlighted in the chart. We are not far off. This level is the 382 retrace zone found using a fib chart. Very likely to bounce off there, especially since we have the 200DMA right under neath us.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Stay tuned to hear what companies I am adding to the watchlist from the Rick Rule Investment conference. I have a few in mind already. Some companies that will be attending I had already had my eye on.

This week I will also be going through the oil Tanker stocks and seeing when they are reporting earnings. These conference calls will give us key insights into what is actually happening within the Strait or Hormuz. The agreement has been signed by Trump and Iran… But if I were navigating a multi-million dollar tanker, with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of oil on it, would I want to take that risk of going through a war zone that has only been over for a week… Right after a vague agreement was signed…

I would pass on that one! But maybe that’s just me.

NAT will likely have some interesting thoughts on travelling through the Straits. Many other tanker stocks will be discussing this on their next earnings calls. Let’s find out who's putting on a call next.

The Best Risk VS Reward I Have Seen Ever.

They only appear obvious after I hit the publish button. I did not intend to become a newsletter writer, I am here writing this to help my closest friends and family navigate the markets. INVESTMENT THOUGHTS

For the last two weeks I have been saying capital is going to rotate out of Ai and tech stocks… Friday we saw it happening in a big way.

SOX ETF is down 10% on a single day. I positioned myself and anyone who was willing to follow along on the paid tier in a 2X inverse ETF. Friday that inverse ETF was up 16% in a single day. I said to subscribers a few days ago, we don’t need to go crazy and throw everything at this inverse stock because the downside on SOX is so much so that even just a little cash here would go a long way! We are seeing the benefits of this rotation happening Friday.

The semi conductor stocks are the most crowded and hyped sector of the market. Anyone I happen to mention stocks too tells me all about NVDA and we are witnessing another top in a sector form here in 2026… Maybe it’s not the end of the Ai stocks for good—but if the SOX index drops 35% from the high, then it will be hard to put the wind back in the sail for quite some time. Maybe Trump will start buying shares… Then tell everyone after he’s bought 700K worth. Who knows.

2026 has brought a lot of unbelievable calls.

I called the top in silver.
I bought the bottom in oil in 2026.
I went inverse oil near the highs in 2026—three times.
Now… I may have just nailed the top in the semi conductors… We will find out soon.

I am still in this trade so maybe this totally reverses on me. I am not throwing a party just yet—but this is what happens when hype stocks get priced to perfection. The tiniest of pins can pop the bubble.

So what is next?

Well like I said in my video a few days ago, the only thing green on my watch list Friday was consumer staples and the interest rate on the 10 year US government bond (the interest on debt).

Markets are going to rotate and I will need to be prepared to raise cash if markets begin to fall too much. Right now, I foresee a market rotation—rather than a body slam lower, even tho that is what it felt like Friday for some people. I was calling for a move in the S&P500 to 7000 about two weeks ago, and I do still think this will happen. But after todays significant 2.64% decline in the S&P500, thats only a 5% drop from here. It’s not likely a straight shot downward either. A recovery rally on Monday is likely and keep in mind, the market needs to be semi stable so the hot new stocks that are about to become available at trillion dollar valuations can be sold. If retail investors are scared shitless, the new stocks that are becoming available in the next two weeks are likely not going to get bought. There is trillions of dollars worth of stock that is about to go for sale and smart money needs retail buyers to unload on. Retail needs to remain solvent enough to buy the shares so smart money can unload. That’s why we are seeing the SOX ETF drop so much.

Billions of dollars are leaving the best performing sector over the last month and it’s moving the entire market. I am preparing mentally for market volatility.

This is the main reason I am positioned myself and anyone who wanted to copy my moves, both long some sectors that will likely receive capital on the other side of this rotation and inverse a few others volatile sectors as well.

Easy money being inverse Bitcoin this week. Took a 4% gain in two days. Bitcoins tough to profit from when it’s falling but not bad for a two day move. Friday I pulled off a 12% gain from gold mining stocks. That was a massive drop in the price of gold miners, the index lost 6% and I walked away with a 12% gain. This is happening because so much money rotated out of the Ai companies that it not only sucked down the entire S&P500 index, but also every other asset with it…

With the exception of the consumer staple ETF.

But few market participants are paying attention to this. Big money won’t be buying this dip because a lot of people need to shore up cash to buy the new companies coming online. As capital continues to rotate, we will see some of our ideal levels of support get broken, but overall, I do believe I am positioned correctly for where cash will land after money moves out of the market, and into other sectors. Especially if the new companies about to become available fall off a cliff in the first week. Those that bought early, will quickly become sellers if these new stocks continue to fall. I will be avoiding them like the plague.

Remember this: money doesn’t leave the market for good, it simply rotates.

I am going to give my positions a little more breathing room than normal, because we are seeing massive waves of money coming out of the Ai sector and we will also see small waves of money come into other sectors. Consumer staples I have already identified as a top pick. But there will be more discovered next week.

Keep in mind, if the market begins dropping too much, I believe Donald Trump will miraculously come to a deal with Iran… A real deal this time… and the market will rise dramatically when that news comes. It will come soon because the Republicans are going to get swept in this coming mid term election if it doesn’t.

That is my game plan going into next week. I believe over the next month or two, we will be happy we were patient and remained stoic in our holdings. Not a great month last month so great to see some nice wins on the board. Not perfect… But give it more time. I believe, in the next bi-weekly report I will be celebrating very much so thanks to a fall in semi conductors. I think it won’t take long for the semi conductor trade to come to an end. I am not celebrating that one early—but I see what I am up right now and I am thinking to myself… Double that and then some.

WEEKLY WATCHLIST

SOX - This ETF is the entire market right now and Friday it fell off a cliff.

I never buy into the crazy hype stocks. This is about as crazy as it gets and now this trade is about to reverse massively. Expect a recovery rally Monday potentially. A rejection off the 13,120 level would tell you without a doubt the top is in. There are multiple potential head and shoulder patterns in this chart. Head and shoulders patterns are a red flag, and usually result in the asset going down. Sometimes dramatically. This chart went parabolic on the way up, and it will fall off that cliff on the way down. The question is, is the top in right now? We will find out this week.

S&P500

Won’t be surprised to see a slight recovery rally Monday. Might be an opportunity to go heavier into our inverse play on SOX. A rejection off the green trend line in the S&P500 would tell us that the top is indeed in on SOX. Look out below in the S&P. It’s almost irrelevant to now watch the S&P500 because 40% of the S&P500 is the SOX companies. This is larger weighting than tech stocks in the 1999 stock market bubble.

We are witnessing financial history in the making. There will be books written about this time period in the future.

GOLD

One more day below the 200DMA and we can say for sure that we are going to 4100 on gold. One of the reasons why I think we will get a recovery rally in broad markets is because of the head and shoulder pattern on the S&P—we need the next shoulder. Gold has also come to the very bottom of the parallel highlighted in yellow below. These charts are all connected, and gold came down right to the bottom of the parallel and stopped. Therefore we are either about to slam lower… Or gold will pop up a bit Monday. That would align with the potential pattern in the S&P chart, and would align with the thesis that retail must remain solvent to buy into the new companies coming online in the next two weeks.

Rally next week… Fall the following?

Either way, the time to buy gold and silver is not right now—unless I owned nothing. Then I would simply dollar cost average into this asset because over the next 5 years gold will likely hit 10,000 USD. I currently have 18% of my portfolio in gold, and I am watching the price action and simply hedging. I will continue to look to hedge my gold position and profit from moves to the downside. If I were an average investor right now I would use Mondays potential rally to take a look at what is the most hyped positions I hold, and sell into that rally. I am not a financial advisor, however… I have been doing DAMN good managing my own money over the last 12 years. Buying the bottom and selling near the top in silver—along with the many other great calls I have made just in the past year.

Hard lessons will be learned in 2026 and I am thankful I learned these hard lessons through the last decade by viewing what mistakes other people have made, rather than losing all of my own money to learn this key thing:

When others are fearful, be greedy, when others are greedy, be fearful.
Fundamentals tell you what to buy, the charts tell you when to buy.
The last decades winners are often the next decades losers.
Nothing goes up forever.
There are four turnings and when the forth turning ends, the cards are reshuffled, never looking the same ever again.
History doesn’t repeat but it often does rhyme.
The last bubble looks the same as the next. But never in the same sector.
We worry about the last dragon we fought, but unable to see the other just over the hill.

There are people who will use their goodness to justify their poorness. The lie people tell themselves is that you have to be evil to be rich. Remember, the only reason why people hand anyone their currency is because they feel like it’s better to have the product than it is to have the paper.

A question worth thinking about together: What even is “rich” to you?

INVESTMENT THOUGHTS

When men lose their moral code, society begins to fracture. Crime rises, families break, and corruption spreads. We saw this in the Roaring 20s – the period in which The Great Gatsby is set – and we are seeing it again today. Men without guidance, a code, or the Ten Commandments veer onto strange paths, searching for pleasure in strange cities or on not-so-lonely islands.

I’d say most women you speak with today would tell you that finding a man of character, emotional stability, strength, someone worthy of marriage is nearly impossible these days.

The streets are full of deviants. Quality men can be found in churches, at home reading, silently minding their business at the gym, or at work.

Women can often be misguided by weak men who can’t help themselves but stop scrolling on TikTok when a strip tease comes up in their feed. Weak men don’t have the strength to unfollow porn stars or OnlyFans models and, like Frodo with a hand reaching for the ring, weak men feel drawn to the Like button, only then telling our social media overlords to keep the stream of soft-core porn coming.

Women unknowingly hold all the power but are misguided by DMs and likes, thinking that this is “what all men want.”

In reality, strong men tell Zuckerberg to “stop showing me this content”– a feature that few know exists. If only there were a feature on Instagram to broadcast those you don’t follow…

Times have not changed.

This is how it was in the Roaring 20s: the last Fourth Turning. Sex, drugs, and jazz turned into OnlyFans (very few men are having sex these days), drugs, and raves.

Those who threw the wildest parties got the eyeballs. In the 1920s, there was no TikTok and no Instagram Reels, but there were five paragraphs on the front page of The New York Times. There, the lavish parties would attract attention for sure.

The portrayed hero of The Great Gatsby is Gatsby himself, but the path he goes down in search of love leads to emptiness.

From the outside, he’s a man of wealth, but on the inside he is not a man of ethics. The things he does for money are insidious – all for material possessions so that he can attract a woman who is of questionable character herself. There’s no difference between then and now.

Men nearly kill themselves for a Rolex, Roids, and a Rolls-Royce, hoping these are the things that will attract a decent woman. News flash, my guys: few women care about your watches, and six-pack abs have been statistically proven to lower the likelihood of a successful marriage. This is a real fact—look it up if you don’t believe me. Probably because women are happiest when their man is well-fed and eating ice cream together as a family. Will Smith’s fanatical obsession with hiring men who only had six-pack abs is an example that fits the poor-marriage statistic mentioned above.

Men will strive to acquire things only to attract a woman who is of questionable character. These are the types of women who’ll make you wish you had signed a prenup.

The hidden gems are women with private Instagram profiles and 300 or fewer followers. These are the women worth marrying. I would know, I spent many years chasing red flags and thought long and hard about what makes my wife a green one.

The only man with morals in The Great Gatsby is the only man left with anything in the end: Nick Carraway.

Despite Gatsby being the wealthy one, I believe Nick makes for the better investor— and the stronger man—because he watches the madness but rarely participates. He’s a man of character, not a man who merely talks about having one.

That’s the mindset of a disciplined investor—and I mean investor in more ways than one.

One who allocates his capital properly
One who allocates time and attention to the right people around him

The express train to the poorhouse is a ride taken via overvalued assets. With assets, you think something is worth X, but when the bubble pops you realize it’s worth a tenth of that. Banks are currently learning this lesson in private credit loans right now in 2026. This, plus the war and inflation leading to higher interest rates, are likely the multiple pins that prick this bubble. We have been monitoring the S&P 500 rise dramatically— as it always does right before the biggest declines in history. When investors feel invincible and the shoe shine boy is giving you stock tips, it’s time to get defensive. What is the modern version of a shoe shine boy? An influencer?…

This same lesson, inverted, can be applied to relationships in general. A person worth keeping around can turn out to be worth 10X more than you thought when shit hits the fan.

Gatsby’s Fatal Mistake: Investing in the past

Gatsby builds his entire fortune in an attempt to recreate the past with Daisy. His famous line: “Can’t repeat the past? Why of course you can!”

This is a costly mistake people make when a bubble is ending. Buying tech stocks as they dipped in 1999 is a great example. Today tech stocks are all the range—but most people do not read history. Investors who bought the dip in tech stocks during 1999 learned a painful lesson. Many didn’t break even until 2014—and after inflation is was closer to 2017. Young people who do not study history, will learn this on their own. I choose to learn by the failures of others, oppose to simply trying to learn by failing myself.

This is another mistake we make in relationships too—thinking we can recreate the past when in reality you are no longer the same people. Relationships and investments… They are both the same thing.

The people in the Roaring 20s were dealing with many of the same things we are dealing with today. It’s often forgotten that the Roaring 20s were followed by the Great Depression. Looking far into the past often provides insight into the future. Shit will hit the fan once again, and we will find out who is a 10X and who will go to zero. I hope to figure that out before the next crisis.

The turning will change from the fourth to the first. Good men adapt—we seek to change, but what’s not talked about enough is that most people over invest in friendships that don’t do much good for them and under invest in assets that would allow you to survive from one turning to the next.

Silver in Venezuela is a great example of this and one I will never forget once I heard about this…. Again… Not learning by failing myself, but learning through the failures of others:

The Catalyst: The crisis was triggered by a collapse in global oil prices, massive government spending, and the Central Bank of Venezuela excessively printing money to fund fiscal deficits and state programs. Prices spiraled entirely out of control in 2018, effectively making the local currency almost completely worthless. But this was not 100 years ago, it was not 50 years ago either. You don’t have to go digging through a dusty old history book to find this information out—because the beginning of this collapse happened in 2016 and only took five years to finalize.

During a 37-month period (the third-longest recorded in global history) the annual inflation rate in Venezuela peaked at an insane 130,000%-2,000,000% depending on estimates one might look at. What this felt like for average people is that prices doubled roughly every few weeks. During this period having friends was essential to survival. People relied on one another more than ever.

But for those who prepared financially, this was quite a shocking discovery…

Take a guess at how much food a single ounce of silver bought a person during the peak inflationary months?

The answer is this: one single ounce of silver bought a person 6 months worth of food during the peak months of this financial collapse. Those who did not prepare financially literally may have died. There is no single official death toll, but economic studies, human rights groups, and public health data indicate that tens of thousands of people have died as a direct or indirect result of the Venezuelan economic and humanitarian crisis.

The main lesson here: Friendships are essential, but it would be wise to take a look at what you have, and ask yourself this question honestly.

Have I over invested in friends that don’t really have my back?

Have I under invested in things that hold their value throughout time?
