Let’s start a wrap skirt and button down combo. The balance of a tailored shirt (even if it’s a slightly rumpled linen one) and feminine wrap skirt is just so good. You can also opt for a saraong or maybe you have a large scarf tucked away that you forgot about. Try it wrapped around your hips with a button down tucked in and voila - you’ve got yourself a chic outfit. Add gold sandals (those are mostly sold out, but these are great too), and a little shopping bag to bring it all together.

We love the “I don’t give a f*** vibe of this photo.” Her chocolate, sheer blouse and crisp golden ochre colored trousers are an unexpected combo for summer and feel sophisticated. The woven flats are gorgeous and we found these that are pretty much identical. And of course it’s the statement necklace and earrings that make the whole look (let’s skip the cigarette).

This idea here is comfort. A cute brown tee (we love this one), and flowy skirt (we actually like this one better than the photo) are ordinary by themselves. Add a pop of color bag and necklace and now we’re talking. Those boho sandals are funky, we think these give a similar vibe.

This season’s longer Bermuda shorts are tailored, relaxed, and much more polished. The key is all in the styling. These brown Bermudas would go well with a light blue crisp button down or linen. Add a cute crochet clutch and silver flips flops (these are our faves) for a casual but put together look.

Think simple tanks (this one is so flattering on), linen vests, lightweight sweaters like this cute cardigan or one worn draped over the shoulders. Add interest to the otherwise simple outfit with scarves, belts, statement sandals, bangles and oversized totes.

But every once in a while, there’s a piece that earns its place.

Usually because it does one (or more) of three things:

• works incredibly hard in a wardrobe

• genuinely lasts for years

• makes everything else look better

For us, the designer pieces most worth investing in tend to be surprisingly practical.

A great pair of shoes that work year-round. Whether that means Gucci loafers, Chanel ballet flats, Louboutin boots or a Monolo pumps. There is a difference when shoes are beautifully crafted, made from quality Italian leather, and designed by brands that have been doing this for decades. The longevity, comfort, and overall look really do justify the investment.

A gorgeous silk blouse. You’ve seen that woman. Maybe you were in Europe and she was sitting at a café. You don’t quite know why she looks so chic and stylish, but she does. This is why. Her outfit is simple, but her blouse is luxurious and perfectly tailored. She pairs it with jeans and maybe a cropped blazer. It’s understated, but incredibly elegant.

A favorite designer bag you carry most days - maybe even two so you have one for Spring/Summer (we are in love with this latest Loewe straw bag for this time of year). A bag is like your side kick. I goes with you everywhere and you look at it all the time. It should make you happy, express your personal style and feel a little indulgent. Like shoes, opt for a designer who truly knows their craft and creates something that makes your heart go pitter-pat every time you see it.

Jewelry you rarely take off. We’re ntot advocating for “designer” per se, but definitely the real deal. Remember that European woman at the café? She also looks stunning in the most understated way because she’s wearing beautiful , classic gold hoops. Or maybe they are pearl drops. She also has a unique signature pendant that reveals a little bit about her personality.

Dresses and skirts. Permission to splurge on a beautifully constructed dress or skirt whether it’s a classic black dress like this stunning Oscar de la Renta number, or a unique skirt (this Zimmerman beauty is on sale and would be perfect for so many events this summer). We 100% agree that this is worth a splurge. Having a beautifully made designer dress in your closet elevates your entire wardrobe. There’s a reason flatform sandals are suddenly everywhere again. This time around, there’s truly a version for everyone: sleek and minimal, sporty and chunky, strappy and feminine, even luxe designer takes that feel more fashion-editor than beach vacation. First up, Reiss, a brand you may already know, but we must bring your attention to their latest collab with the New York Botanical Garden. It’s giving Zimmerman and Oscar de la Renta vibes and we are smitten.

Suzie Kondi is knows for those cute terry sets and jumpsuits. If you’ve been holding off but tempted, might we suggest their classic terry sweatshirt style in one of their fun new seasonal colors? (Framboise is so good). We also can’t get the combination of the essential navy and a cute skirt out of our heads.

Gerard Darel is an iconic French brand that’s over 50 years old. It’s where local Parisians shop, and perhaps part of the secret to why they always look so chic. The brand is known for it’s attention to detail, craftsmanship, and especially it’s quality leather pieces. It’s a go-to for us when it comes to classic pieces (like this linen blazer) that are well-made and long-lasting. They also happen to be having a big sale right now, making it a great time to nab the perfect camel suede jacket and this little yellow dress caught our eye too.

Per usual, ME+EM has a fabulous summer collection. Their Crease-Less linen collection and latest tops are all so good (this cheesecloth striped number is darling).

And finally, this one surprised us: Marine Layer (which we don’t normally think of as a leading fashion brand, but more casual and utility-focused) has really upped their game with some super cute arrivals. We love so many pieces, including this red linen dress and this chic crinkle-fabric pant-and-top set that we could wear all summer long.

The best travel wardrobes aren’t built around endless options. They’re built around pieces that:

• layer easily. Make sure you pack different silhouettes, not repeats of the same things. You only need 1-2 tees, 1-2 button-downs, 1 light sweater, etc.

• work for day and night. Keep things on the sophisticated, classic side. Not too many patterns. For example a black tee works during the day and looks chic at night with a bold necklace.

• are great quality. You will notice how Europeans look polished because their clothes are well-crafted and made from beautiful fabrics. Bring your nice stuff on vacation!

• are your best-fitting, most flattering pieces. Your future self will thank you when she unpacks and everything has already been tried on and fits and flatters. If anything is a little too tight or slightly big and makes you feel frumpy, do not pack it! Take the time for a 30-minute try-on of everything in front of a mirror before you pack. Make sure the pieces all work together and look great on. Don’t settle!

If we were packing for Europe right now, we’d start here (most of these are European brands so you will fit right in):

Trousers (preferably linen): Light weight, loose-fitting black trousers like these are comfortable and chic. Pair them with sneakers and a tee during the day and sandals at night.

Linen shorts: We’re in love with this brown pair that comes with a matching belt.

A great oversized button down: (OK maybe 2 or 3): We’d go with crisp white and light blue (this TWP shirt is pricey but worth it) and/or a fun stripe.

Black and white tees: Keep it simple and stock up on some from Gap. Tees are American, after all.

A luxe black tank: It’ll be a workhorse (especially on hot days) and perfect for under a light jacket or linen blazer. This one is excellent, or a linen vest would be great (especially with the matching trousers above).

Low-profile sneakers + Flatform Sandals: Brown suede sneakers are everywhere in Europe right now (yes, for summer!) For sandals, opt for chic flatforms that look like a high heel but feel like a comfy flat. Perfect for day or night.

One black dress: This stretchy fit and flare is all you need and you might wear it most of the trip. And if you prefer something with sleeves, this one is great.

A lightweight sweater: This is the piece to get right when it comes to quality. Falconari Italian sweaters are luxurious and long-lasting, but not crazy-expensive.

A crochet set: Since most of the items are classic, staple pieces we would add something to add interest like crochet pieces. Sets are great for travel because you have an instant outfit and they work double duty when you pair them with other pieces. We love this pretty beaded top and skirt from Sandro. Layer the top over an ivory tank (or nude bra) and wear the set for dinners and evenings out. The skirt would look great with a button down or tee and the top works with all your bottoms. Here’s a longer skirt and top set (at a lower price point too).

A light jacket: A black linen blazer would work well with those black trousers - tres chic. Or you could bring a light bomber style (how cool is this one?)

2 Bags: A classic leather tote, or a straw bag if you’re spending time on the coast (use it as your carry on). We like this Longchamp one even better than the much pricier Loewe everyone seems to have. And a small bag that works as a crossbody during the day and clutch at night - this one from Mansur Gavriel is perfect.

Sandals: Go for simple, Positano-inspired sandals like these comfy, walkable ones.

Vintage-feeling jewelry: Bring your jewelry! Bangles like this one, classic hoop earrings (these 18K hoops are everything), and a chunky necklace will make the simplest outfits look European. Imagine this necklace with a tee, a button down - anything would be so chic.

Belts (always): French brand, Gerard Darel makes so many options.

A scarf: This polka dot one is darling.

Good sunglasses: How perfect are these green-rimmed ones?

Most of the outfits would probably revolve around:
white, navy, black, cream, denim, brown, and maybe one accent color.

The goal isn’t to look wildly different every day. It’s to have enough beautiful, versatile pieces that make getting dressed feel easy no matter where you are.

The versions we’re seeing are refined, in classic silhouettes and easy to wear. Think airy open-knit polos, and short sleeve styles. Cardigans and sweater jackets with texture, and pieces that feel slightly coastal, slightly European, and really good with jeans, shorts, trousers and skirts.

Miuccia Prada almost always wears some version of a skirt, knit top and sexy heels as her signature look. She nails accessorizing too with dangly earrings, a statement bag and fun pieces like headbands and scarves.

Get the Look:

We’ll start with this Prada skirt that feels very Miuccia (we could also see her in this chic cream version as a more accessible version). Add a pretty cream-colored sweater and metallic sandals. And top it off with a Miu Miu bag from her collection and these earrings.

And we can’t forget Audrey Hepburn’s iconic combination of sweaters, pixie pants and ballet flats. It almost feels like a part of her personality.

We found these highly rated black pixie pants at a steal of a price and they feel very Audrey, but Tuckernuck’s version is the real deal with the back zip. Add a perfect cotton black sweater (we love this short-sleeve one that can also be layered over a button-down) and great-quality black flats. Let’s add some interest with these Chloés. Viola!

It’s less about endlessly chasing newness and more about refining what already works and honing in on your fashion identity. There’s also something incredibly confident about a woman who clearly knows what she likes.

Tod’s Is Leaning Into Nautical Luxury

Tod’s just launched its new Marlin collection inspired by JFK’s legendary boat (check out the campaign imagery here), blending Italian coastal style with New England sailing references through soft leather loafers, technical cotton outerwear, canvas accessories, and maritime details.

What this means for your wardrobe:

The polished coastal aesthetic is only getting stronger. We’re seeing weathered leather, suede loafers, rope details, relaxed tailoring, striped knits, boat shoes (still), and refined “summer on the water” dressing everywhere right now. The mood is less yacht club costume and more understated coastal elegance.

These are the perfect boat shoe. Not a trendy purchase - an investment, forever pair.

Chanel’s Jewelry Just Got Much More Colorful

Chanel unveiled its new “Signes & Symboles” high jewelry collection in the South of France this month, and insiders are already calling it one of the house’s boldest jewelry collections in years. The 85-piece collection leans heavily into emeralds, sapphires, turquoise, rubies, colored stones, celestial motifs, lions, stars, camellias, and layered symbolism inspired by Gabrielle Chanel herself.

What this means for your wardrobe:

After years of ultra-minimal dressing, fashion is starting to crave color and personality again, especially through jewelry and accessories.

These examples are a little exaggerated (but fun, right?) Take inspiration and go for it! Start with a simple base: Jeans and a tee or button down and then stack mixed metal rings and bracelets. Let’s add some emerald color stones (it is the May birthstone, after all), like our favorite Monica Vinader one (currently 30% off). And this lab created emerald eternity band would look so pretty stacked and someone should get this malachite beauty!

High-Low Collaborations Are Back in a Big Way

Designer collaborations suddenly feel exciting again. Victoria Beckham just announced a collaboration with Gap. We’re loving this denim jacket.

Jamie Mizrahi (stylist to Jennifer Lawrence and Adele) is doing a collab with Quince. She’s put together different “looks” with Quince pieces.

And FRAME and Alexandra Leclerc (she’s a French-Mexican model) are collaborating on a line that is inspired by the model’s lifestyle in Monaco. We’d pick these Leo jeans that come in the perfect dark wash.

The Gap x Doen collab is back again this season. So many cute things to choose from. This pretty top from the collection also comes in Navy (but it’s selling out fast).

What this means for you:

Collabs have limited inventory and sell out fast. If you hear about one that peaks your interest, you have to move quickly. We love them because they offer a fresh take from a new designer at affordable prices. Plus, since they have limited runs the pieced feel more special and unique.

Coach Continues Its Quiet Fashion Comeback

While many luxury brands continue struggling with price fatigue, Coach is gaining momentum again thanks to strong design, better pricing, and a more grounded approach to style. Investors are paying attention too, with Coach owner Tapestry now much closer in valuation to Gucci-owner Kering than anyone would have expected a few years ago. Our daughter’s all want our old Coach bags so they are definatly cool again!

We love this beauty. In a world where luxury bags can cost thousands, Coach continues to deliver beautifully made bags at a more approachable price point. Known for rich leathers, thoughtful craftsmanship, and timeless American style, the brand has been creating well-constructed handbags for over 85 years. PS: for the record, there’s nothing wrong with Gucci and this bag is still on our founder, Daisy’s wish list if anyone’s wondering.

The Barn Jacket Remains a Fashion Item

What started as a heritage outerwear trend (remember the one from J. Crew?) has fully crossed into fashion territory. Barn jackets are always great with vintage denim and but they are now being styled with tailored trousers, ballet flats (check these ones out) and even evening pieces like silk skirts.

We love this one from J. Crew that feels like if a Barn Jacket and a Trench had a baby. Such a great departure from all the trench coats out there, and it’s on big mark down!

This week, it’s resin earrings.

They’re sculptural, playful, slightly retro, and somehow make even the simplest white tee or linen dress feel intentional. We especially love them paired with relaxed summer fabrics because they add polish without feeling too precious.

Resin jewelry has been making fashion statements for nearly a century. First popularized in the 1920s and ’30s through early plastics like Bakelite, resin allowed designers to experiment with bold shapes, rich color, and sculptural forms in a way traditional fine jewelry never could.

Some of the earliest fashion designers to embrace Bakelite and resin-style costume jewelry were Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli. Both helped legitimize costume jewelry as part of high fashion rather than something “cheap” or secondary.

To us, the best part is how well these playful, colorful accessories work across almost every style personality. Minimal, preppy, boho, chic - there’s a version for everyone.
