🚨ANTHROPIC CEO: OPEN SOURCE AI IS GETTING DANGEROUS Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told lawmakers that open-source AI is moving down a “very dangerous path.” His warns that once powerful models are released openly, companies lose the ability to monitor misuse, revoke access, or update safety guardrails.

Amodei just does not give up on his goal of government regulatory capture to favor Anthropic "Public Benefit Corporation"

We lose the ability to revoke your access'.. and yeah, that's exactly the point of open source.

Translation: 'It's dangerous when we can't control who accesses powerful AI.' That's not a safety argument. That's a moat argument. Open-source doesn't create risk it redistributes who holds it.

Take awake GitHub… take away open source and watch how much the revolution is expedited.

He looks so nervous, not only because Open Source AI is the future, but because he can't pay out his investors.

Any technology has the potential to be dangerous depending on who uses it. Nuclear can been used for good and evil. If poweful models are released to everyone, nefarious actors will have as much access as much as good people. Companies who release models without caring who gets access dont care about people who will be negatively affected. Models are already being used for cyberattacks.

Too many competitors. That’s what he really means it. Same story, different technology. This is exactly what happened with ERPs in the ’90s: endless vendors, consolidation through M&A, and eventually just a two dominant players. Ironically, even the winners never fully met business needs. AI is following the same script in real time.

If we’re going to make any progress we ought to be far more jealous of our right to receive information from these language models as if they were instruments of protected speech

Said differently: open-source models are catching up too quickly. Help us by regulating/forbidding them so we can keep printing money. Makes sense.

The more I watch him talk, the more I realize who’s really the most dangerous AI lab. These days it felt like the greed is so strong it’s becoming so obvious.

Indirectly Anthropic does not want its models being banned anymore. #Fable

"We can't control it" That is USA's biggest nightmare. That had once used a similar rationale to try to stop open-source software.

In short: Please regulate the free competitors so that I will be able to show profits to my investors.

They're scared people will move on from their expensive junk offerings to local open source AI. What's dangerous is allowing any of the frontier CEOs to have any control over the direction of AI.

I can't stop feeling something is off with Dario and Sam on a personality level.

Open models are taking away from Anthropic’s bottom line. And that would not stop

Too dangerous to be open. That's usually what people say right before the world adopts it.

Open source AI is outperforming us by eliminating vendor lock-in.

I don’t want censorship, or guardrails. I want tools to build a business not one that lectures me on ethics, blocks legal requests, and can be modified to push a narrative. I’ve had multiple models say providing publicly accessible business information is anticompetitive.

Should any private entity have so much power? Guess govt should take over the AI companies as well in that case

He forgot to mention the part where Anthropic's revenue is getting hammered by companies switching to open source model like Meta's Llama
